Filmmaker Surgeries

Oska Bright is committed to developing talent and making pathways into the industry. We’re working with three leading industry professionals to offer learning disabled filmmakers or people working collaboratively with learning disabled talent the chance to get support and advice on new projects.

Each surgery will last 20 minutes, there are limited sessions available.

Cordelia Hebblethwaite, Commissioning Editor BBC Ideas

Cordelia is commissioning editor for BBC Ideas - a new digital video project from the BBC focused on “short films for curious minds”. She was previously in charge of digital for BBC Newsnight and has worked at BBC World Service radio, as a feature writer in Washington DC for the BBC News website, and helped launch BBC Trending. She is the author of www.socialmediareporter.org.

Jo Nolan, Managing Director Screen South

Jo has Exec Produced over 250 digital projects across Film, Arts and Heritage including award winning features and shorts. She is the Lead Producer for New Creatives South East, with 100 Digital project commissions. She also leads the Create Converge Skills Talent strand, a European cross sector Immersive and Interactive project. She has produced 72 shorts for Channel 4 Random Acts.

Thomas Wightman, BFI NETWORK Talent Executive

Thomas joined the Independent Cinema Office from the Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA) where he managed STOP PLAY RECORD, a commissioning programme for emerging filmmakers. During this time Thomas commissioned, developed and exec produced 72 short films made by filmmakers aged 16-24 for the Channel 4 Random Acts series.
