Here’s a rundown of everything to look out for while the festival is on.

SATURDAY 28 MARCH

Opening Night

Brighton Dome Corn Exchange • 7pm

Join us for our opening night as we kick off the Oska Bright Film Festival with a screening of the incredible Norwegian documentary Being Ola.

Our opening night is introduced by the Oska Bright programming crew with a keynote speech from Matthew Hellett. We are delighted to be joined by the Being Ola team for a post-show Q&A.

SUNDAY 29 MARCH

Nature

Sea Lanes Brighton • 1pm

Screened at Sea Lanes on Brighton beach, this new strand brings together films inspired by the natural world. Your ticket also includes a short guided walk to explore the surrounding coastline and its wildlife.

Poetry

Sea Lanes Brighton • 3pm

A new strand for 2026 celebrating poetry and spoken word on screen. Films and live performance come together to showcase rhythm, voice and personal expression.

Family Values

Brighton Dome Studio Theatre • 4pm

These films explore the challenges and joys of family relationships; delving into the complexities of parenthood, sibling dynamics and coexistence. Themes of love, loss and personal growth are woven throughout these stories navigating what “family” really means.

Documentary

Brighton Dome Studio Theatre • 7pm

Real lives, real voices and real experiences take centre stage. These films open up different perspectives on the worlds, passions and creativity of learning disabled and autistic people.

MONDAY 30 MARCH

Emerging Talent

Brighton Dome Studio Theatre • 11am

Fresh ideas, new voices and exciting first steps into filmmaking. This strand celebrates creatives at the start of their journey and we especially welcome younger audiences to join us.

Animation

Brighton Dome Studio Theatre • 1:30pm

A vibrant mix of animation styles that surprises, moves and entertains. From laugh-out-loud moments to stories with real emotional depth, these films show just how powerful animated worlds and characters can be. This screening will be followed by an animation workshop.

Experimental

Brighton Dome Studio Theatre • 5:30pm

Playful, daring and delightfully unexpected. These films bend the rules of cinema, challenge how stories are told and invite us to think differently.

Horror

The Rose Hill, Brighton • 8pm

A brand-new strand celebrating all things spooky, strange, and spine- tingling with dark humour and chilling twists, screened for one night only at Brighton’s beloved Rose Hill.

Industry Day Networking Afternoon

Portrait of the Artist

Brighton Dome Studio Theatre • 2pm

An inside look at artists at work across painting, drawing, performance, dance and more. These films take us into studios, creative processes and conversations that challenge assumptions about learning disabled and autistic artists.

Wild Women

Brighton Dome Studio Theatre • 6pm

Elevating the work of women, who are much under-represented in the film industry, this strand features stories with magical twists, coming-of-age chaos and dystopian futures; films that celebrate self-discovery, sisterhood and unapologetic ambition.

Queer Freedom

Brighton Dome Studio Theatre • 8pm

Head Programmer Matthew Hellett’s ground-breaking strand returns - bigger, braver and full of heart. These films celebrate LGBTQIA+ stories of identity, life, art and queer love.
